About This Tour
Spanning 3,000 years of Near Eastern history in three days, this cultural tour concentrates on five of Jordan's most significant ancient sites: the Roman provincial capital of Jerash, the Ayyubid fortress of Ajloun, the Graeco-Roman Citadel of Amman, the Nabataean rock city of Petra and the Bedouin desert landscape of Wadi Rum. Each site represents a distinct civilisation and era, making this the most time-efficient introduction to Jordan's layered past.
Jerash is visited in the morning — long enough to walk the full colonnaded Cardo from the Tetrapylon to the North Gate and stand inside the South Theatre. Ajloun Castle, a 12th-century fortress built to counter Crusader expansion east of the Jordan River, follows the same afternoon. Petra occupies a full second day: the Siq approach, the Treasury, the Street of Facades and the Royal Tombs. The Wadi Rum desert camp — a 4x4 safari at sunset and dinner beneath the stars — provides a contrasting close to the itinerary.
The tour departs and returns from Amman and runs year-round, with spring and autumn the most comfortable seasons for walking the open archaeological sites. It suits travellers on a regional circuit seeking a focused Jordan highlight package. Starting from USD 475 per person, the price covers private transport, an English-speaking guide, hotel accommodation and all entrance fees.
