Our Story & History

Atlas Tours was founded in 1972 in Amman, Jordan, by the late Khaled Steitieh, a visionary entrepreneur with a deep-rooted passion for travel and tourism. Prior to establishing Atlas Tours, Mr. Steitieh served as Swissair Manager in Amman through the General Sales Agent (GSA) representation from 1961 until 1972, gaining extensive experience in the aviation and travel industry.

In 1968, he established JSTA (Jordan Society of Travel Agents) in Amman and became its first president, serving in this role until 1972. His contribution played a significant part in shaping and organizing the tourism sector in Jordan during its early stages.

In the same year of its founding, Atlas Tours was appointed as an IATA-accredited agent, marking an important milestone and laying the foundation for its long-standing credibility within the global travel industry.

From its early days, Atlas Tours was built on a commitment to reliability, personal service, and strong relationships. Khaled Steitieh’s hands-on approach and dedication to excellence helped establish the company as a trusted name in Jordan, earning the confidence of both international partners and local stakeholders. His legacy continues to shape the company’s values and direction today.

Over the decades, Atlas Tours has grown from a small family-run business into a well-established Destination Management Company, while maintaining its core principles. Our development has been driven by continuous adaptation to the evolving travel landscape, combined with a deep understanding of our destinations and the needs of our partners.
